About three weeks ago I started interviewing for Internships, interviewing it's self sucks period! And can be very difficult for anyone in the Fashion Industry but it's particularly challenging for an overweight black girl. In this industry appearance is everything! and I mean EVERYTHING! Being Fat is like the closet thing to having the plague! Although I know the Industry eats fat ppl for breakfast, I'm NOT starting a new career because I gained weight.

(I know it's just face shots but you can still see the dramatic difference)

In late 2007, early 2008 I started to gain weight and my 130lbs frame started to expand tremendously! It was around the time I stopped working with Mariel and had tons of time off to bum around and dine out with my girlfriend, friends & family. Well before I knew it I was over 200lbs and absolutely clueless about what to do to get my body back that I'd absolutely loved! This will probably been the hardest thing I will attempt this term, my school work, or internship doesn't measure up to weight loss on the scale of difficulty. Yet I must do this for myself.

There are tons of blogs of fashionable fat girls and I love reading Ashley Falcon's column in Marie Claire "Big girl in a Skinny world" but personally I don't enjoy being fat nor is it healthy. I admire Ashley for being so brave for discussing her journey as a plus size woman in the fashion industry! It's inspiring.
